On-rim swaps only — and why balancing isn’t needed here

On-rim only, for now: we swap complete wheel-and-tire sets, so your seasonal tires must already be mounted on their own rims / wheels. We don’t currently offer off-rim mount / dismount — taking a tire off a rim and refitting a different one — and we don’t offer balancing as a service, because we don’t run a tire changer or balancer for mobile work.

Why an on-rim swap doesn’t need re-balancing: balance belongs to the wheel-and-tire assembly, not to the car. When a tire stays on its rim, that whole assembly stays exactly as it was already balanced — we only unbolt it, bolt the other set on, and torque it to spec. Nothing about its balance changes, so putting rims on without balancing does make sense for an on-rim swap.

Balancing is needed when a tire is separated from its rim, a new tire is fitted, balance weights have fallen off, or you feel a vibration at highway speed. For off-rim or balancing work you’ll need a shop — or a mobile service — with a tire changer and balancer. Once your tires are on rims, we can do the seasonal swap and rotation at your door.

    Part 2 · The move

Vercel → WordPress, without crashing your live site

Short version: you don’t “transfer” anything out of Vercel. You build WordPress somewhere separate, on a temporary address, while the live site keeps running — then, only after you approve it, you change one setting at Porkbun to point the domain at WordPress. Vercel stays as your backup the whole time.

What you have now vs. where it ends up

    Today

    • Domain systemautoworks.com — Porkbun Stays
    • Website — VS Code → GitHub → Vercel Replaced later
    • Email info@ + admin@ — Google Workspace Stays, untouched
    • WordPress.com account — sharma4xu@gmail.com Just an account
    →

    After the switch

    • Domain — still Porkbun, just pointing at new host
    • Website — WordPress on managed hosting, edited with clicks, no code
    • Email — still Google Workspace, same addresses, same inbox
    • Vercel/GitHub — kept as a frozen backup & rollback

⚠️ Important: the WordPress.com account you created is not hosting for your domain yet. WordPress needs a hosting plan (WordPress.com’s paid plan, or a managed WordPress host) where WordPress is installed and you get a temporary/staging address to build on. That hosting — not the free account — is what gets connected to Porkbun at switch time.

    The safe sequence

    1. Change nothing on the live site

Don’t touch Vercel, GitHub, or the main Porkbun DNS records. Your current site keeps taking bookings during the whole build. There is nothing to “crash” if you don’t touch it.

    2. Buy managed WordPress hosting — separately

Pick the host, sign up under sharma4xu@gmail.com, and choose a plan with staging included. Do not choose “transfer my domain” or “use my existing domain” as the main domain during signup — pick the host’s temporary domain instead. That one choice is what keeps the live site safe.

    3. Build on the staging / temporary address

The host gives you an address like systemautoworks.temp… or a staging subdomain. This preview is the blueprint for what gets built there: Home, Services (mechanical, wash & detailing together in one section), Winter Tires, Residents, Condos, Dealerships, Fleets, Service Areas, About/Careers, Book, Contact.

    4. Set up the logins properly (see table below)

Each system keeps its own login. Nobody needs anybody else’s password — WordPress, hosting and Porkbun all support adding a second user or collaborator instead.

    5. Copy your email records before any DNS change

At Porkbun, screenshot/export every DNS record first — especially MX (Google email), plus SPF, DKIM and DMARC (these keep info@ out of spam during outreach). If the new host asks you to change nameservers, those Google records must be recreated at the new host first. Changing only the A record (website) is safer — it leaves email DNS alone.

    6. Test the WordPress site like a customer

On the staging address: submit the booking form and confirm it lands in info@, tap the phone number on a phone, check prices, check every page on mobile, and confirm the site loads with the padlock (SSL).

    7. Switch day — one change, at Porkbun

The evening before, lower the DNS TTL to 300 seconds so the change spreads fast. Then point the domain’s A record (or nameservers, if your host requires it) to the WordPress host, exactly as the host instructs. Do not delete the MX records. The site flips over within minutes to a few hours; the old Vercel site is still there underneath if anything looks wrong.

    8. Rollback & cleanup

If anything breaks, rollback is just reverting that one Porkbun change back to the Vercel values from your screenshot — the live site returns as-is. Keep Vercel/GitHub untouched for at least a few weeks after the switch. Only cancel anything once WordPress has run cleanly and email has been tested sending and receiving.

Logins: who has what, and how to share safely

SystemWhat it controlsHow access should work
PorkbunThe domain & DNS — the master switchKeep this one under your own login + 2FA. It’s only touched on switch day; nobody needs day-to-day access.
WordPress hostingServer, backups, staging, SSLSigned up with sharma4xu@gmail.com. Most hosts let you add a collaborator/team member — use that instead of sharing the main password.
WordPress Admin /wp-adminEditing pages, prices, postsYou = Administrator. Anyone helping build = their own Administrator/Editor account, removed when done. Day-to-day editing only needs Editor. Turn on 2FA.
Google Admininfo@ + admin@ email, billing (~$22/mo for 2 users)Separate from WordPress entirely. Don’t change email hosting during the website move — one move at a time.
Vercel + GitHubThe current live siteLeave exactly as-is. It becomes your backup/rollback, not something to delete or “transfer out.”

Never paste any of these passwords in chat. The safe routes are: the host/WordPress “invite a collaborator” button using an email address, you logging in yourself and handing over the already-logged-in screen, or a secure credential form. Also turn on two-factor authentication on Porkbun, Google, and WordPress first — domain + email are the two accounts that can’t be lost.

🚫 The 5 things that actually crash sites like this

    • Pointing the domain at WordPress before the WordPress site is finished and tested
    • Changing nameservers without copying the Google MX / SPF / DKIM / DMARC records first — website works, email silently dies
    • Deleting or cancelling Vercel/GitHub before the new site is proven
    • Moving email (e.g. to Hostinger) in the same week as the website move or the outreach sends
    • Building on the live domain instead of a staging/temporary address
Do I need to move my domain away from Porkbun?

No. Porkbun can stay your registrar forever. The switch is just changing where the domain points (DNS), not transferring ownership of the domain.

Will my info@systemautoworks.com email stop working?

Not if the Google MX records are left alone (website-only A-record change) or copied exactly (nameserver change). Test sending and receiving right after the switch. This is also why the email shouldn’t be moved to another provider in the same week.

How long does the actual switch take?

The change itself is minutes at Porkbun. DNS then spreads over minutes to a few hours (faster if you lowered the TTL the day before). Because the old site stays up on Vercel during that window, visitors see one working site or the other — not an error.

What do you need from me to start the real WordPress build?

A managed WordPress hosting plan created under sharma4xu@gmail.com, with access shared by collaborator invite or the secure form — plus, when you have them, your mechanical “from” prices, exact service cities, hours, and 2–3 real reviews. The build can start with placeholders for those and still stay off the live domain.
